About Us
ABOUT SUNWAY-PAIR
There were a series of activities and events that further enhanced Sunway University’s research reputation locally and internationally. Amongst those events were the Harvard Project for Asian and International Relations (HPAIR). Sunway University became the official partner university of the HPAIR 2018 which hosts Harvard University’s largest annual student conference in the Asia-Pacific region.
Sunway-PAIR is a partnership club of Harvard-PAIR which is part of Harvard University Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. This partnership club was formed as Sunway University is the partner for the 2018 HPAIR Asia Conference. The initiatives that SPAIR carries out, brings together international students and eminent individuals in the fields of academia, politics, and business, with the goal of participating in an open forum to learn about the important economic, political, and social issues facing the Asia-Pacific region. Delegates from top universities everywhere would attend, to learn from influential researchers speaking about Art, Media, & Culture, Energy & Environmental Sustainability, Governance & Geopolitics, World Markets & Economy, Social Policy & Justice, and Technology & Innovation. For the past events, SPAIR has been given the opportunity to invite notable speakers such as Dr. Nagulendran Kangayatkarasu, Mr. Faisal Ariff, Tunku Zain Al-‘Abidin, Dr. Elizabeth Lee, to provide a talk about sustainability, digitalization, and youth.
OUR PURPOSE
The purpose of HPAIR Partnership Clubs is to expand and further the collaboration between HPAIR Organizing Committee and delegate organizations around the world. As part of its mission to facilitate discussion of the most important economic, political, and social issues relevant to the Asia-Pacific region, HPAIR is dedicated to establishing a global network of HPAIR partners to promote international dialogue and collaboration. These organizations foster intellectual exchange by holding their own seminars, workshops and conferences. Harvrd-PAIR partnership clubs will also serve as a local HPAIR network, as HPAIR alumni can look to their local partnership clubs to stay involved in the HPAIR community. Finally, these clubs also help their members with fundraising searches to assist conference attendance costs.
ABOUT HPAIR
The Harvard College Project for Asian and International Relations (HPAIR) is a student-run organization of the Harvard University Faculty of Arts and Sciences. HPAIR organizes Harvard University’s largest annual student conferences in the Asia-Pacific region. Since 1991, they have continuously gathered a growing pool of international students from top universities, renowned academics, business professionals, and political leaders to engage in their rigorous educational events.
ABOUT PARTNERSHIP CLUBS
Since 1999, HPAIR has set up partnerships with organizations former delegates have established on their own campuses. These clubs in local universities of different countries provide forums for ongoing discussion outside the conference and within their local settings. In recent years, HPAIR’s partners have increasingly utilized internet communication to facilitate the ongoing discussions about the HPAIR workshops throughout the year with HPAIR members living in different regions. These organizations also foster intellectual exchange by holding their own seminars, workshops and conferences. While usually more local in focus, these organizations uphold the same common spirit and driving force behind the main international HPAIR conference. Finally, aside from the recruiting and academic components, these clubs also fundraise for their own local events and to help their members pay for conference attendance costs.
